ICM Covid-19 Update 18/05/2020

In response to Government guidance and the continuing risk from Covid-19 all ICM offices remain closed.

We take the health and safety of our visitors, learners, volunteers and staff extremely seriously, and after assessing the risks we feel that at the moment we cannot safely return to delivering our projects in person. However we will continue to deliver our many projects in new and innovative ways.

Please read below to find out just how our projects have been re-designed to be delivered under lockdown.

We are sure you will understand the measures we are putting in place in these uncertain times and we look forward to the day when it is safe for us to meet again in person.

Please stay in touch with us, we’d love to hear from you.

Many thanks.

The ICM team

Here’s a snapshot of how we are delivering our projects under lockdown:

Our ESOL Tutors have been working tirelessly to redesign their English lessons so our many ESOL courses can continue. This has included creating printed workbooks, which have been sent by post to dozens of learners, recording videos and audio messages to send via email, phone and Whatsapp.

Our New Gen group has been meeting virtually each week, with tutors providing weekly tasks, such as practicing scales and learning new pieces of music. Members have also been busy working up new branding for the group and writing new music.

We’ve been meeting with the South Street Kids virtually, finding out how everyone has been getting on while under lockdown and finding out what the kids might need and how we could best support this.

Due to Covid-19, we have had to adapt our delivery for the Radio Gainsborough project. IO Radio is collaborating with Gainsborough to create audio content such as playlists and podcasts which are then broadcast across our social media channels.

Our Making Waves project has had a revamp! In response to the virus we have created a brand new platform for our Tutors and young people to be able to create and share music! We've also purchased brand new equipment so our young people can continue to learn and make music from home.

The IO team have focused on keeping in regular touch with the most vulnerable members of our community to help with isolation. We’re supporting our DJs and volunteers to create content from their home, as well as hosting weekly online get-togethers, including a regular quiz.
