Ever dreamed of performing your music in front of a real crowd? Looking for a place to test out your lyrics, jam with other artists, or just soak up some seriously good vibes? Making Waves – Youth Open Mic is here for you.
Hosted at The Smokehouse in Ipswich, this new ICM project is giving 14–25 year olds the chance to step into the spotlight, share their sounds, and connect with other young creatives.
What is an Open Mic, anyway?
Not sure what an open mic is? Don’t stress – you’re not alone! An open mic is simply a chilled space where anyone can get up on stage and perform. You don’t need a record deal, a manager, or even a band – just bring your voice, your instrument, or even a USB with your beats, and you’re in. You can:
Perform your own music (all genres welcome)
Try out covers
Play pre-recorded tracks
Or just come along to watch and support other young artists
No pressure, no judgement – just a community of people who love music.
Why get involved?
For young musicians and creatives, Making Waves is more than just a youth music project: Build confidence performing in front of others
Meet new people and grow your network
Learn from professionals through free masterclasses
Get experience with pro sound and lighting at The Smokehouse
Join a community where creativity and self-expression come first
And it’s all completely FREE.
